Why volunteer for the 100?
The 100 Black Men of London is all about action. We are not a talking shop, even if we love to debate and discuss issues of concern to the black community. All our programmes and activities are about doing things and getting things done that have a measurable positive. We believe we are highly regarded within the community and by government bodies and other organisations. Additionally, our members and volunteers benefit hugely from learning different skills through their association with the 100 Black Men of London, from public speaking to project and event management to mentoring and mediation skills. Who can become a volunteer? Becoming a volunteer is open to all men and women of all backgrounds.

How to become a volunteer?
The first step is to attend one of our Open Days, which are held several times throughout the year at different venues across London. The best way to find out about these Open Days is to contact our membership team on

, who will email you directly with details of the upcoming Open Day. Otherwise keep an eye on the Events Schedule of our website where Open Day details will also be uploaded. At the Open Day, you will learn more about the details of our organisation, what we expect of you as a volunteer and what you can expect of us. We will also answer any questions you have about our organisation. Following the Open Day, if you are still interested in becoming one of our volunteers joining, you can become a probationary volunteer for three months. During this period you will be assigned a buddy (another long standing member or volunteer) who will be on hand to assist and explain things to you. You will be expected to attend our regular general meetings and view our programmes and activities. During this period you will also be taken through the CRB checking process since all our volunteers, particularly mentors must be CRB checked. At the end of those three months, if you still wish to join as a volunteer, you will make a very brief presentation to our members and volunteers at a general meeting on why you believe you should be one of our volunteers; your buddy will also give his or her report to the members and volunteers about the extent of your participation over the previous three months and then the members and volunteers will vote. Assuming you are voted in, you will receive a formal 100 volunteer's certificate.
