Member & Volunteer of the Year 2009
Member of the Year: Wayne Calder Volunteer of the Year: Jenniffer Lewis At our first meeting of the year in January, 100 Black Men of London had the pleasure of announcing the member and volunteer of the year for 2009. These went to two individuals who had given outstanding service to the organisation over the previous 12 months.
The Member of the year 2009 is Wayne Calder. Wayne has been coordinator of the North London programme for the past two years. A committed and passionate self-starter, Wayne has led the North London community mentoring programme and overseen its spectacular growth in the past 12 months, with record numbers of both mentees and mentors graduating from there in 2009. Jennifer Lewis was announced as our Volunteer of the Year 2009. Jennifer was responsible for the development and implementation of our pioneering Peer Mentoring Programme, which presents the graduates of our Youth Leadership mentoring programme with the opportunity to learn how to be a Peer Mentor and run mentoring sessions themselves. This programme has now attained international acclaim, and the graduates of the inaugural programme have started doing great work in our community mentoring programme as well as in the community. "It has been an absolute pleasure and great source of inspiration working with Wayne and Jennifer over the past year," said 100 President Olu Alake. "In such an outstandingly successful year for the organisation, several people have put in awesome contributions, which makes the recognition of these two wonderful people all the more praise-worthy. I am sure this will be the beginning of even greater contributions that they will go on to make in the community."
