| Youth Debate |
The Youth Debate programme is one of the only programmes of its kind in London that provides a forum for young people to discuss and debate topics and issues of importance and relevance to the youth of the black community. Format A question or topic is framed, usually by the young people on our Community Mentoring Programmes. The topic or question is then debated by a panel of experts and the audience. The audience consists of young people of all backgrounds between the ages of 16 – 25. At the start of the debate opening statements are made by two teams of young people taking opposing views on the topic. The issue is then opened out to the panel and audience. Previous Debates “Obama – so what?†This debate, held in association with CANI Academy, shortly after the inauguration of Barack Obama as American President allowed young people to express their view about his election and the extent to which this would have any effect on the lives of young people living in the UK.
